Acquisition Process

The criteria that we are using for project acquisition can be illustrated as follows:

In the screening phase, we identify and analyse the project in order to establish whether it is interesting for our network of investors.

The evaluation phase is an assessment of whether the project will potentially be successful. It involves evaluation of: Grant for construction, power purchase agreement, net access, land lease, service agreement, technical and commercial management.

The technical due diligence is carried out by an independent technical expert who verifies and evaluates the technical specifications and assumptions that are used in the project.

The legal due diligence covers a review by an external legal expert who assesses whether the documentation of the project is in accordance with the quality measures that are used by NWI.

The financial due diligence is carried out by one of our preferred cooperation auditors – either Deloitte or KPMG. It consists of reassuring that all financial calculations are correct and give a true picture of the economics of the project. Moreover, it contains an assessment of the tax issues of the project.

In the contract phase, the contract is established, based on NWI’s standard contract template. The signature of the contract seals this step. 

In the investment phase, the investors are identified, and the project is handed over to the new owners of the project. In many projects, the investors are involved early in the process.
